What Is CCL?
The Cubuzzle Champion League is a speedcubing competition series created and run by Cubuzzle - the UAE's speedcubing hub. It's more than a competition: it's a community where cubers of every level are made, grow and thrive. This rulebook and page are written in plain language, so there are no surprises on competition day.
5 Events - Choose One or Compete in All
Register for multiple events at no additional charge.
Open to everyone - no age limit, no minimum skill requirement. Participants from the UAE and worldwide are welcome. This is an individual competition; each person may register once, under one identity.
How The Competition Works
Compete from home, on your own schedule, with a live judge assigned to your session. Here's the full journey from registration to the Grand Finale.
Register & Pay
Choose your event(s) and complete registration & payment. Multiple events, one fee.
3 Qualifying Rounds
Complete 3 solves per round - all rounds are online (Sept–Nov 2026). Your solves build up across all 3 rounds - one bad solve won't ruin your chances.
Division Confirmed
Your Average of 9 (Ao9) across all 9 solves confirms your division and leaderboard position, and decides if you advance.
Finals & Grand Finale
After completing 3 qualifying rounds, the top 50% of each division will advance to the Grand Finale, which will be held fully online, just like the qualifying rounds.
The Divisions
Every division competes using the same Standard (cumulative average) format - you'll never be matched against someone far above or below your skill.
| Division | Average Solve Time | Finals Format |
|---|---|---|
| A+ | Under 9.99 seconds | Standard Format |
| A | 10 – 19.99 seconds | Standard Format |
| B | 20 – 29.99 seconds | Standard Format |
| C | 30 – 44.99 seconds | Standard Format |
| D | 45 seconds or more | Standard Format - Beginners Welcome |

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions about CCL Season 5.
I've never competed before. Is this for me?
Yes. Division D (45 seconds or more) exists specifically for beginners. Book a training session first if you don't know how to solve a cube yet, then register with confidence.
Do I need a Stackmat timer?
A Stackmat / cube timer is preferred, but a mobile timer app or online timer is accepted for every division if you don't have a physical timer.
Can international participants join?
Yes. CCL Season 5 is a fully online competition from qualifying rounds all the way through the Grand Finale, so participants from anywhere in the world can compete without traveling.
What platform are qualifying sessions held on?
Zoom or Google Meet, depending on your scheduled session. Make sure your connection is stable enough beforehand.
What's the new "Cube Cover" rule?
Immediately after your judge gives the scramble, you must cover your puzzle with a non-transparent cover until your judge tells you to begin your 15-second inspection. This is new for Season 5.
What are the camera requirements?
Your camera must clearly show your hands, cube and timer at all times - during both scrambling and solving (not just the solve, as in previous seasons). Showing your face is recommended but not required unless your judge asks.
What happens if I miss my time slot?
You have a 5-minute grace period. After that, your round may be forfeited and recorded as a DNF for that round. Contact us as early as possible if you have an emergency or conflict - ideally 48 hours in advance.
Is there an age limit?
No. CCL is open to all ages - we've had participants as young as 6. Parents are welcome to join sessions too.
Can I register for more than one event?
Yes - you can register for one or multiple events (3x3, 2x2, Pyraminx, 3x3 One-Handed, 4x4) at no additional charge.
How do I know my division?
You declare an estimated division at registration based on your current average. After your 3 qualifying rounds, your official Average of 9 (Ao9) confirms your final division - you'll always be notified before the finals.
Where can I read the full rules?
The complete Season 5 rulebook - covering equipment, inspection, penalties, disputes and code of conduct - is available in the Official Rulebook section above.
